COVID-19: Statement from Jennifer Johnstone,
President and CEO

For more than a hundred years, Central City Foundation has been looking out for neighbours in our community who need help. With the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the province, we want to assure all our community partners, donors and volunteers that nothing is more important than the health and safety of the people in our community.

We are monitoring the rapidly changing situation. Our property managers are implementing extraordinary measures to help keep our Downtown Eastside SRO residents safe. We are working with all levels of government to seek solutions for those in our community who cannot self-isolate safely if needed, and for those who will need additional supports in these challenging times.

We are discussing with our community partners how we can best support them during this upheaval and uncertainty. Our goal continues to be helping our partners, especially those on the front lines of this crisis, access the resources needed to support people in the inner city.

To help “flatten the curve” wherever possible, Central City Foundation staff are working from home to continue to provide service to our community. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

In the days ahead we will continue to track the situation and ensure that we can best serve our community during this crisis. These are unprecedented times and we are grateful to work alongside our community partners, our donors, our volunteers and our staff to rise to this challenge.
