Central City Housing Society

Central City Housing Society directly operates the Abbott Mansion and Cosmopolitan Hotel, SRO buildings in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside that are owned by Central City Foundation.

All operations are guided by Central City Foundation’s mission and our commitment to provide safe, clean and affordable housing for people in Vancouver’s inner city.

Our operational principles:

  • services are resident-focused and provide residents with a sense of personal security
  • all reasonable efforts will be made to foster residents’ capabilities to live 
successfully and independently
  • a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive atmosphere of dignity and respect for all residents is to be maintained
  • operations are transparent and accountable

Central City Housing Society is currently expanding its community connected housing operations, including our moderate barrier low-income housing at the Abbott Mansion building and implementing our new Women’s Transitional Housing Program, in partnership with the community-based service network, at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
